Inspira Health is expanding the scope of its major redevelopment project at Inspira Medical Center Mullica Hill as patient demand continues to grow across South Jersey.
The health system originally planned to leave portions of the new five-story wing unfinished for future development. However, officials recently decided to fully build out the additional space as capacity pressures increase throughout the hospital.
Construction on the $250 million expansion began in late 2024. The project includes a new 150,000-square-foot wing designed to support long-term growth at the Mullica Hill campus.
Initially, Inspira intended to reserve the fifth floor and portions of the third floor as shell space for future use. That strategy would have allowed the health system to expand later as operational needs evolved.
Instead, Inspira is accelerating those plans now.
According to Inspira Health President Warren E. Moore, continued patient volume and capacity challenges influenced the decision to fully develop the available space during the current construction phase.
As part of the revised plan, the fifth floor will feature a second 32-bed surgical unit. The new unit will mirror the 32-bed surgical floor already planned for the fourth level.
The expanded investment reflects broader healthcare growth occurring throughout the South Jersey region. In addition, many healthcare providers continue adapting facilities to support rising demand for inpatient and surgical services.
Once completed, the upgraded Mullica Hill campus will further strengthen Inspira’s presence as one of the region’s leading healthcare providers while positioning the hospital for future growth opportunities.
