Virtua Lourdes Hospital Transformation

Virtua Plans for Expansion

Virtua Health, which acquired Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital four years ago, is planning a new six-story tower as part of a substantial “transformation” of the hospital on Haddon Avenue.

Called the “Care Transformation Project,” Virtua disclosed plans to build a new 254,155-square-foot Pavilion Building tower attached to the current hospital in documents filed with the city’s Planning Board.

“Extensive internal renovations to the existing hospital facilities” are also planned, a Virtua communication to the board notes.

Cooper provides first look at $150M outpatient care center at Moorestown Mall

Although not expected to open until late fall, Cooper University Health Care this week provided a first look at its $150 million South Jersey ambulatory care center inside what was previously a Sears department store at the Moorestown Mall.

The 166,000-square-foot Burlington County outpatient care center — still largely under construction with unpainted walls, bare concrete floors, steel framing and miles of cables — will be the largest such care facility for the Camden-based health system, which also has large outpatient care campuses in Voorhees and Cherry Hill.

Health Partnership Coming to Camden

Cancer Research Coming to Camden NJ

A new $30-million partnership of three Camden health care leaders could propel South Jersey’s standing in world-class cancer research and attract research grants and researchers to the area.

The Coriell Institute for Medical Research, Cooper University Health Care and Cooper Medical School of Rowan University announced on Monday, July 10, that they have launched the Camden Cancer Research Center to work on treatments and cures for cancer. The three would invest in the center equally over a 10-year period.
